Day Surgery - which accounts for over half of all in-patient activity with a wide range of surgical procedures (which would previously require an overnight stay) and can now be performed on a day case basis
On-site Sterile Services Department which is regulated by the Care Quality Commission
Operating theatres have received considerable investment over the last few years, to provide 3 theatres, 2 of which are state-of-the-art laminar flow theatres, which lesson the risk of infection by reducing the number of organisms in the air. These developments support the introduction of the orthopaedic joints services. In addition, well equipped procedure rooms have been introduced in which minor procedures can be undertaken
Outpatients are seen in the Jubilee Clinic and Lister Medical Centre, which both promote an environment where privacy and dignity is high priority. The Jubilee Clinic includes a purpose-built Endoscopy Unit with leading-edge equipment and specialist nursing staff
Diagnostic Services are some of the newest available. Digital imaging lets consultants see x-rays within seconds of them being taken and reduces patients’ exposure to radiation.
