What kind of help can the Trust provide?
The Benenden Charitable Trust was introduced in 2005. It exists to help people who are in financial difficulties due to sickness, disability, infirmity or any medical condition that the Society is unable to help with through its core services.
The Trust intends to use its funds to contribute towards the cost of treatment or services. This could be an operation, respite care or the installation of specialist equipment.
Who is eligible for help from the Trust?
The Trust will consider every claim from any Benenden Healthcare member unable to receive treatment through the Society's core services. If the Trustees see fit, help can also be offered to non-members.
How the trust has helped:
"Mr D suffers with various health conditions which greatly inhibit his mobility. He was not able to use an ordinary bath or toilet and required specialist adaptations. In order to help Mr D remain independent, the Trust agreed to contribute towards the cost of the bathroom modifications."
"Mrs P's young daughter suffers with cerebral palsy which affects the control she has in her arm and leg muscles. Her physiotherapist recommended a specialist trike which would not only enable her to play with her friends but would also have large therapeutic benefits for her condition. Through fundraising, Mrs P was able to raise a third of the cost and the Trust was pleased to contribute the rest."
Further information
All correspondence should be sent to the Trust Coordinator who will forward claims to the Board of Trustees. Cases are handled confidentially and the Trustees aim to make a final decision within 10 working days.
