Q. Can anyone join the Benenden Health Cash Plan?

A. No – the Benenden Health Cash Plan is available only to people aged 17 - 65 (inclusive), although it can be retained beyond this age, and who are already members of The Benenden Healthcare Society. If you are not currently a member please visit www.benenden.org.uk for more information on joining the Society. Once you are a Benenden member you will be able to take out a Benenden Health Cash Plan. In addition to paying for your Society membership you will also be required to pay an additional premium if you wish to take out the Benenden Health Cash Plan.

Q. Does my age matter?

A. Any Benenden Healthcare member aged between 17 and 65 (inclusive) may take out a plan in their own right and the same rate applies regardless of age. Once you’ve joined, you can keep your plan beyond 65. 

Q. Are pre-existing conditions covered?

A: Pre-existing conditions are not covered under the Plan, and that includes those symptoms which were present before joining. Please note the rules about pre-existing conditions do not apply to our dental and optical categories.

Q. Can I change between the four benefit levels whenever I want?

A. Yes. As time goes by, you may find that a different benefit level better suits your needs. You can transfer from one to another at any time before you reach 65. You can change your plan as your needs change. Please see the Important Information booklet for full details.

Q. When does my cover begin?

A. Cover begins from the date printed at the top of the letter in your welcome pack. Some benefits may have a qualifying period see the Important Information booklet for full details.

Q. Will I need a medical to join?

A. No. You will need to tell us if you have any pre-existing conditions as these will not be covered under the plan but a medical is not required to join. We'll also need you to complete and sign the application form. 

Q. Can I really join from as little as £7.50 per month?

A. Yes, the level 1 plan for individuals is £7.50 a month with a 100% cash back up to your benefit level. For further information please review the benefits table.

Q. How can I cover my family?

A. By choosing one of our Family Plans, to cover you, your spouse or partner and any dependent children up to the age of 17, who reside at the same address. This does not include children in a fostering arrangement. When applying simply fill in their details and they will automatically be covered.

Q. Can I claim for private treatment or does the Plan just cover NHS treatment?

A. You can claim for both. Benenden Health Cash Plan allows you to claim for a variety of healthcare treatments and therapies. And it doesn’t matter if you have an NHS dentist - you can still claim. Please refer to the Important Information booklet for full claim details.

Q. How often can I claim?

A. Your benefit year is 12 months and starts on the date your policy starts, this will be printed in your welcome letter.
