Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+

Q: Can anyone join?
A: No – Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+ is available only to people aged 66 and over who are already members of The Benenden Healthcare Society. If you are not currently a member please visit www.benenden.org.uk for more information on joining the Society. In addition to paying for your Society membership you will also be required to pay a separate premium if you wish to take out the Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+.
Q: Does my age matter?
A: Yes. Any Benenden Healthcare Society member aged 66 and over may take out a plan in their own right and premiums remain the same, so they don't increase with age. For joint plans, both you and your spouse/partner must be aged 66 years or over.
Q: Are pre-existing conditions covered?
A: No. Pre-existing conditions are not covered under the Plan, including those for which symptoms were present before joining. Please note the rules about pre-existing conditions do not apply to our dental, optical and hearing aid categories.
Q: Can I change between the three benefit levels whenever I want?
A: As time goes by, you may find that a different plan level better suits your needs. You can transfer from one to another at any time and can change your plan as your needs change. Please refer to the Important Information for more information on changing plan levels and the related qualifying periods which may apply.
Q: Can I change between single and joint plans whenever I want?
A: As time goes by, you may find that your circumstances change and you may want to switch between a single or joint plan. You can transfer from one to another at any time and can change your plan as your needs change. Please refer to the Important Information for more information on changing plans and the related qualifying periods which may apply.
Q: Can I change between the Benenden Health Cash Plan and the Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+?
A: If you are currently a member of the Benenden Health Cash Plan and are aged 66 years or over, you may wish to change to the Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+. If you wish to change your plan please contact Engage Mutual Health on 0845 052 5736* who will be able to assist.
Q: When does my cover begin?
A: Cover begins from the date printed at the top of the letter in your welcome pack. Some benefits may have a qualifying period. See the Important Information for more information.
Q: Will I need a medical to join?
A: No. You will need to tell us if you have any pre-existing conditions as these will not be covered under the plan but a medical is not required to join.
Q. Can I really join from as little as £10.00 per month?
A. Yes, the level 1 plan for individuals is £10.00 a month with a 100% cash back up to your annual benefit level.
Q: Can I claim for private treatment or does the plan just cover treatment under the NHS?
A: You can claim for both. Benenden Health Cash Plan 66+ allows you to claim for a variety of healthcare treatments and therapies. And it doesn’t matter if the treatment is from an NHS or private practitioner. Please refer to the Important Information for further claim details.
Q: How often can I claim?
A: Your benefit year is 12 months and starts on the date your policy starts, this will be printed in your welcome letter. You can claim up to the maximum benefit limit within your benefit period, depending on the level of cover you select.
