A new face in the family is always welcome - but there's no escaping the extra costs involved, and that can be a worry.
We are here to make things easier by paying benefits of up to £600 for each registered birth, depending on which benefit level you choose. And we'll also pay a grant if you adopt a child, or children, up to the age of 10.
You're entitled to claim this after a 10 month qualifying period.
NOTE The mother of the baby may also be able to claim for time spent in hospital, if it extends to the six nights or more. For details, review our Hospital and Recuperation Grants benefits.
