The best start to your day

Just one banger a day can increase the risk of heart disease by 42%
Hankering after a full English breakfast? Do your heart a favour and order a veggie option rather than sausages or bacon. Having examined the results of studies on more than a million participants, a Harvard University team came to the conclusion that it’s best to steer clear of processed red meat.
They found that eating just 50g a day of processed meat – one sausage, for instance – was linked to a 42 per cent increase in coronary heart disease. That solitary banger also upped the risk of diabetes by nearly 20 per cent. The culprits are probably the salt and preservatives used in the processing. You could always stick to a continental breakfast!
