Millions of working days and billions of pounds are lost to sickness every year. Employee medical cover can make a concrete contribution to the bottom line in reducing absence and the cost of temporary staff. But many company health insurance policies are complex and costly with rigorous restrictions on entry.

None of that applies to Benenden Healthcare. Our business model is simple and our corporate healthcare product has just one, affordable flat rate for everyone.

Specialising in low cost, high quality employee healthcare
We are a not for profit, mutual Society, offering discretionary services. Our low cost model is based on collective contribution and responsibility with our members understanding how we complement treatment available through NHS channels.

One price; £1.50 per employee, per week
The scheme is simple. Providing your organisation is eligible, you’ll pay the same flat fee of £1.50 per week for each employee, regardless of income level, pre-existing medical conditions or service usage. That’s just £78 a year! Contributions are used to benefit our members and help improve services available to them. It’s easy to set up too - there are no exclusions, no medical questionnaires and no age limits. We currently provide Corporate Healthcare to over 270 employers, including Parcel Force Worldwide.

Make an enquiry, contact our sales team today to find out more about the Benenden Healthcare Corporate Scheme.

An affordable alternative to Private Medial Insurance

Benenden Healthcare is not a medical insurer. As an alternative to traditional healthcare cover we provide a range of discretionary advisory, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services for £1.50 per employee, per week. Our services are based on members’ needs and available Society resources; this is described as ‘discretionary’.

Flexible benefits for your employees

  • At their own expense, your staff can extend their Benenden Healthcare membership to their friends and family at the same low cost of £1.50 per person, per week
  • The cost of employee healthcare does not rise as employees access our services
  • Pre existing medical conditions are disregarded upon application
  • There are no age restrictions on membership
  • GP 24/7 and stress counselling advisory services are available 24/7, 365 days a year
  • All Benenden Healthcare members aged 16- 65 (inclusive) are eligible to purchase the Benenden Health Cash Plan, provided through the Friendly Healthcare Organisation Ltd which is a subsidiary of Benenden Healthcare Society Limited. The Cash Plan provides reimbursements for a range of everyday healthcare treatments including dental and optical treatments. With three levels of cover starting from £1.95 per week, this can be purchased by individual staff at their own expense to complement their employer paid healthcare Benenden Healthcare membership.

Value added employer services

We also offer value added services to ensure that your employees receive maximum value from their employee benefit. These include:

  • A dedicated, named account manager
  • Tailored management intelligence on scheme uptake by your employees
  • Hosting on-site organisational health days
  • Regular events
  • Marketing support to help you communicate your healthcare scheme to staff.

Managing employee sickness absence

An effective employee healthcare scheme with Benenden Healthcare may help to reduce absenteeism and the cost associated with sickness absence.

The negative financial impact of ill health on organisations is undeniable.

  • Sickness absence costs public sector employees at least £4 billion every year.
    (HSE January 2009)
  • 28 million days were lost in 2007/2008 due to ill health.
    (HSE May 2009)
  • Work-related health accounts for over one-third of all new incidences of ill health.
    (HSE January 2009)

In addition to these financial benefits, a high quality staff healthcare scheme improves staff morale and is a valuable addition to staff benefit packages, thus helping to increase staff retention and recruitment of high quality workers. It's a sign that yours is an organisation which cares about its people.

Helping you control sickness absence

The healthcare scheme you choose for your business needs to provide:

  • regular account meetings and management information to target problem conditions and departments
  • preventative healthcare services to help your workforce manage their health
  • responsive healthcare services - when your employees need it most
  • clean, hygienic and comfortable hospitals throughout the UK, to suit a mobile and fixed workforce
  • high quality customer service – your employees will associate the quality of healthcare services they receive with the value of the staff benefit provided
  • a cost effective return on investment
  • a range of services to suit a variety of healthcare needs

Benenden Healthcare’s Corporate Healthcare package provides all of these services to you.

Benenden Healthcare’s Corporate plan is simple to set up.

Setting up the scheme

Step 1
Simply call 0845 052 5730* and a member of the corporate team will set up your scheme and answer any questions you may have.

Step 2
You will be sent relevant information along with any clear instructions on what you need to do next.

The information comprises:

  • Your letter of agreement
  • Your summary of key facts
  • Your member listing (an Excel spreadsheet which you will need to populate with all of your employee details)

Step 3
Invoices can be raised either quarterly or annually in advance depending on your preference. Payment would normally be made by BACS although other methods can be considered.

To ensure your scheme is administered correctly, simply keep us informed about staff numbers on a monthly basis - letting us know when anyone leaves or joins the organisation.

Once members of the scheme, those leaving your organisation are eligible to continue their Benenden Healthcare membership in a private arrangement.

Please note, we are not authorised to give tax advice. Any organisation would need to take advice from their own tax experts.

Step 4
To keep if simple, we provide an excellent after sales service. This will include all the marketing material you’ll need to raise staff awareness of the services they can access, and keep the value placed on the scheme high throughout your organisation.

This includes:

  • Regular events
  • Health days
  • Promotional articles, emails, flyers, posters and intranet content.

You’ll be assigned you own dedicated Corporate Account Manager who will look after your membership, visiting you and your staff regularly and working with you to promote the scheme to staff as you see fit.
