Although Benenden Healthcare has been around for over 100 years, membership today gives you access to a modern, forward-thinking mutual organisation that puts itself at the forefront of effective and affordable discretionary healthcare.
We look after our members, their friends and their families, offering a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and surgical services at a cost of only £1.50 per person, per week. Sometimes those services run alongside those of the NHS - and sometimes they help when the NHS can't. To keep contribution rates low the Society cannot help with some conditions. For further information on services and exclusions please refer to the relevant section.
Keeping membership costs down means keeping a control on who can join. You can become a member of Benenden Healthcare in one of two ways - if you now work, or have previously worked, in the public sector, or if you already know a Benenden Healthcare member.
Your job is the gateway to low cost healthcare
You can become a member of Benenden Healthcare if you now work, or have previously worked, in any of these public sector groups or for a registered charity or other approved organisation:
If you are not currently eligible, do check back regularly - we occasionally expand our eligibility list.
Joining through someone you know
If you already know a Benenden Healthcare member, you can join through them - paying for yourself. For more information, just call 0845 052 5747* with the membership number of your friend or family member.
How your friends and family can join
Once you're a member, your friends and family can join too. There are no restrictions on numbers, and everyone pays the same small contribution of £1.50 per person, per week.
Unlike with your membership, family and friends don't have to work in relevant occupations – anyone is eligible to join through you!
It's easy to arrange - just fill in the names and addresses of your friends and family as you apply online, or call 0845 052 5720* with your membership details ready.
Why join?
- No questionnaires or medicals.
- Everyone pays the same, regardless of age or health.
- No extra charges and no limits on treatment for pre-existing conditions (although we can't usually provide treatment more than once for ongoing conditions).
