York-based Benenden Healthcare Society, a mutual not-for-profit healthcare organisation, recently offered jobseekers the chance to gain on-the-job training and valuable work experience with a new apprenticeship scheme.
The scheme, organised in conjunction with City of York Council’s York Training Centre, will run for one year initially and give a successful candidate the opportunity to obtain a level 2 business administration qualification as well as the chance to work in the Society’s customer-focussed Member Services department.
Anne Sykes, Training Manager at York Training Centre, said: ‘Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience. The communication I have had with staff at Benenden Healthcare has been second to none and I’m looking forward very much to working in partnership over the next year.’
Jon Shanks, HR & Development Manager at Benenden Healthcare, said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to offer a valuable work and training experience for local jobseekers in what is currently a difficult environment for those who are out of work. Although initially just for one successful candidate, we hope to continue working with the York Training Centre as we are an organisation that has staff development at the heart of everything we do.’
York Training Centre is part of the City of York council and is an work based learning provider with excellent OFSTED results.
