Research into the public’s view of the new Government’s vision for healthcare was unveiled at a Parliamentary reception this week, hosted by Benenden Healthcare Society.
MPs and special guests gathered for the launch of the research, carried out by ComRes on behalf of Benenden Healthcare.
At the event in Westminster Hall, guests heard that more than two thirds of those questioned back the move to give every patient the option to choose their own healthcare provider, including using independent and voluntary suppliers – so long as it meets NHS standards and remains free at the point of entry..
Ken Hesketh, Chief Executive of the Society said: ‘What is clear from the research is a strong public appetite for more choice.’
Keynote speakers at the event included the Rt. Hon. Stephen Dorrell MP who was recently elected Chairman of the House of Commons Health Select Committee and Hugh Bayley, MP for York Central whose constituency includes the Benenden Healthcare head office.
The event was staged as part of the Society’s public affairs engagement programme and will help position Benenden Healthcare as a thought leader in UK healthcare.
